Current South African junior-bantamweight champion Landile ‘Man Down’ Ngxeke is venturing into the international stage as he faces Filipino boxer Jayr Raquinel this coming Sunday.
This vacant World Boxing Organisation (WBO) Intercontinental junior-bantamweight title fight between the two boxers is set for the International Convention Centre (ICC) in East London.
Ngxeke from Sada in the Eastern Cape and his adversary met for the first time in East London on Wednesday. Their next meeting on Sunday won’t be to exchangenge pleasantries as both want to win the vacant title.
Ngxeke has done very well this year winning his two fights by stoppages. He stopped Athenkosi Dumezweni in the 10th round to win the then vacant SA junior-bantamweight title at the Sun City Superbowl in Rustenburg in April.
Ngxeke then went on to defend his title with a fourth round stoppage victory over Lindile Tshemese at the ICC in June.
Raquinel, meanwhile, has not fought since he lost to his compatriot Giemel Magramo in October last year.
Ngxeke is unbeaten after registering nine wins (four knockouts) and drawing once while Raquinel has 12 victories (nine stoppages), two losses and a draw.
