Mamelodi Sundowns Ladies are going to face Simba Queens from Tanzania in the semi-finals of the CAF Women’s Champions League on Wednesday.
This came after the Brazilians trounced TP Mazembe from the Democratic Republic of Congo 4-0 at the Marrakech Stadium in Ouahat Sidi Brahim, Morocco, on Sunday evening.
Zanele Nhlapo converted a penalty in the 19th minute to give Sundowns the lead after Chuene Morifi was fouled inside the box.
Lelona Daweti doubled Sundowns’ lead when she scored her fourth goal of the tournament after she was set up by Melinda Kgadiete five minutes before the half-time break.
The Brazilians were quick off the mark at the beginning of the second half making it 3-0 through Kgadiete’s goal off a Bambanani Mbane pass.
The Congolese were reduced to 10 players in the 84th minute after Merveille Kanjinga was red carded for a very bad tackle on Modikanalo Mashigo.
Gabonnelwe Kekana put the final nail into the Mazembe coffin when she scored Sundowns’ fourth goal after receiving a pass from Nonhlanhla Mthandi in referee’s added time.
