East London boxing trainer Khangelani Jack is happy that his boxer Zolisa Batyi will challenge South African featherweight champion Jeff Magagane early next month.

Batyi and Magagane are set to collide at the Ngoako Ramatlhodi Sports Complex in Seshego, Polokwane, on Friday, 2 December.

This fight gives Jack an opportunity to redeem himself after Magagane dethroned his boxer Asanda Gingqi at the Portuguese Hall in Turffontein, Johannesburg, in September.

“This is our title. We still believe that we won the fight against Magagane. However, he won because he was fighting at home,” Jack said.

“The fact that the title was taken from my boxer and now one of our boxers is challenging for it shows that it has to come back home. We are going to be more aggressive this time around.”

This is the second time Batyi challenges for the same national title this year. He was outpointed by his stablemate Gingqi at the East London International Convention Centre (ICC) in May.

Batyi, who defeated Sange Ngoza by a split decision in an eight rounds bout in East London last month, was led into war by Baba Makala while Jack manned Gingqi’s corner.
