Everything that could go wrong went wrong for Mamelodi Sundowns Ladies as they surrendered their CAF Women’s Champions League title following a 4-0 thumping by Moroccan side ASFAR FC in the final played at the Moulay Abdellah Stadium in Rabat, Morocco, on Sunday evening.

The stadium erupted with joy when the Moroccans took the lead in the 15th minute after Fatima Tagnaout beat Sundowns goalkeeper Andile Dlamini from the penalty spot.

ASFAR were awarded a penalty after Banyana Ba Style captain Zanele Nhlapho had fouled Zineb Redouani inside the box.

Disaster struck when Banyana Ba Style were reduced to 10 players after Rhoda Mulaudzi was red carded for a bad challenge on Redouani in the 33rd minute.

Things got from bad to worse for Banyana Ba Style when Nhlapho was sent off for an early shower following a second bookable offence in the 52nd minute.

Two minutes later, ASFAR’s Ibtissam Jraidi scored the Moroccans’ second goal after the ball was rolled out to her by Tagnaout.

Jraidi netted her second goal of the night when she beat Dlamini in the far post two minutes before full-time. Jraidi completed her hattrick capitalising on Dlamini’s poor handling of Tagnaout’s cross on the stroke of full-time.
