It looks like Orlando Pirates coach Jose Riveiro still doesn’t know what hit him when Mamelodi Sundowns hammered the Buccaneers 4-0 on the final of the Carling Black Label Cup at the FNB Stadium in Nasrec, Johannesburg, on Saturday evening.

The Brazilians were too strong for Pirates as Cassius Mailula scored a brace with other goals coming from Sphelele Mkhulise and Grant Kekana.

Pirates suffered an early blow when their defender Tapelo Xoki was shown the red card in the 21st following a reckless tackle on Sundowns’ Haashim Domingo.

“It’s difficult to describe this game. Obviously, two games, difficult. One, 11 against 11, 11 against 10, we couldn’t manage,” the Spaniard said.

“Immediately after the red card, we lost control of the game. We have an excellent group of players in front. They have got an advantage after the red card. The rhythm of the game was very bad. The fact that we had to play with 10 men was an issue.”

This was sweet revenge for the Tshwane giants, who were humiliated 3-0 by Pirates in an MTN8 semi-final match at the Peter Mokaba Stadium in Polokwane last month.
