Khanyile ‘Man Dee’ Bulana gets an opportunity to shake off ring rust as he challenges reigning South African junior-lightweight champion Lunga Sitemela this week.

The East London boxer will break 19 months of inactivity when he clashes with Sitemela at the Vibrant Sports Centre in Ottery, Cape Town, on Friday.

Bulana will be returning to action since his first round loss to former International Boxing Organisation (IBO) junior-lightweight champion Michael Magnesi in April in Italy last year.

“The preparations have gone very well. I have been waiting for this opportunity. I have been preparing for some time. I have been in camp for four months now,” Bulana said.

Bulana from Scenery Park in East London does not believe being inactive for more than a year will be a problem to him during his fight against Sitemela.

“I have not fought since my loss in Italy last year. I don’t think I’m going to have a problem because of my inactivity. I don’t believe in ring rust,” Bulana remarked.

The 31-year-old Bulana’s loss to Magnesi was his first professional defeat in 13 fights. He has won 12 fights with eight of those being knockouts against one loss.

Meanwhile, this is going to be Dordrecht-born Sitemela’s first defence of the title he won when he dethroned Sibusiso Zingange in May this year.
