Soweto-based boxing trainer Charrit Mukondeleli, who trains Kholosa Ndobayini, is miffed after his boxer’s controversial loss of her South African female lightweight title on Sunday.

Mukondeleli has insisted that Ndobayini, who was born in Qumbu in the Eastern Cape, was robbed during her fourth fight against Raider Muleba at the Nkowankowa Sports Centre in Tzaneen, Limpopo.

Actually, what has angered Mukondeleli is the amount of time it took before the outcome of the national title fight was announced. Fight supervisor Tinyiko Nkatingi, the Boxing South Africa (BSA) manager in Limpopo, took almost an hour after the 10 rounds had ended before he finished tallying the score cards.

“They took the title away from us. We won almost all the rounds during that fight. They took 45 minutes before they announced the results. Clearly, there was something going on. They robbed us. Raider knows that she didn’t win the fight. We want a review of the fight and an immediate rematch,” Mukondeleli said.

Ink Sport spent the whole day on Monday trying to get a comment from Nkatingi. He kept on asking to be given time until Monday evening when he told us that he was unable to talk because he was ‘sleeping’.
