Bafana Bafana coach Hugo Broos has made it clear that he’s not disappointed after his team drew 1-1 with Angola in an international friendly match played at the Mbombela Stadium in Nelspruit on Sunday afternoon.

This was Bafana’s second match in three days having beaten Mozambique 2-1 at the same Nelspruit venue on Thursday evening. Orlando Pirates’ Zakhele Lepasa netted for Bafana from the penalty spot to cancel Angolan Ambrosini Salvador’s goal.

“I’m not disappointed. We expected the same performance than Thursday, it was not possible. We didn’t play so good either,” the Belgian said.

“I felt there was lack of determination and players were not fresh enough. Maybe all those games in the last 14 days played the role. The many games of the last two weeks played a role even Thursday after the game there were players complaining about fatigue. I thought putting some fresher players with the team that would be better, no.”

The 70-year-old former Indomitable Lions coach added that they showed the Angolans some respect during the match.

“The way we were playing we gave some times too much space to Angola. We gave them time to receive the ball. But we didn’t lose, that’s one good thing. Secondly, I think the result is correct. We played against difficult opponents,” he said.

Up next for Broos’ boys are back-to-back Africa Cup of Nations qualifiers against Liberia in March next year.
