Having led South African and world champion Xolisani ‘Nomeva’ Ndongeni to a seventh round stoppage win over Thai boxer Apinun Khongsong in Durban on Thursday last week, boxing trainer Mzamo ‘Chief’ Njekanye is now ready for his next assignment.

Njekanye has resumed preparing Azinga ‘Golden Boy’ Fuzile, who clashes with Mexican boxer Rene Tellez Giron in an International Boxing Organisation (IBO) Intercontinental lightweight title fight on Sunday, 11 December.

The clash between Fuzile and Giron is going to be promoted by Jacob Mnisi’s J4Joy Boxing Promotions tournament and is scheduled for the Moses Mabhida Stadium in Durban. This is going to be the first boxing tournament to be held at the iconic 2010 FIFA World Cup venue.

“Nomeva’s fight is more like ancient history to us now. I’m busy preparing Azinga for his next fight. We will go out for a win also knowing very well that our opponent will come here fit and ready for us,” the Duncan Village-based trainer said.

Fuzile, a former South African featherweight champion and a one-time world title contender, will be fighting for the second time this year. He stopped Malawian Romeo Makwakwa at the Orient Theatre in East London in July.
