Talented East London boxer Nhlanhla ‘Mount Kilimanjaro’ Tyirha will fight for the second time in less than two months as he faces Jemsi Kibazange next month.

The former South African junior-flyweight champion and the Tanzanian are going to square up at the Orient Theatre in East London on Sunday, 11 December.

The 23-year-old Tyirha will go to the Kibazange fight following a unanimous decision win over Filipino boxer Orlie Silvestre in an International Boxing Federation (IBF) Intercontinental junior-flyweight title contest at the East London International Convention Centre (ICC) on 30 October.

This is going to be 26-year-old Morogoro-born Kibazange’s second visit to the Eastern Cape. Kibazange, who is now based in Dar-Es-Salaam, lost to Sikho Nqothole in an International Boxing Organisation (IBO) All-Africa junior-bantamweight title fight in Mthatha in November 2019.

Meanwhile, South African super-middleweight champion Asemahle Wellem is due to test his boxing skills in a fight against Freeman Mabvongwe from Zimbabwe.

The unbeaten Wellem and the Zimbabwean clash in a vacant African Boxing Union (ABU) super-middleweight title fight.

Chintsa-born Wellem, who stopped Tinashe Zihove from Zimbabwe in East London last month, has won all his five fights with three of those victories being stoppages. On the other hand, Harare-based Masvingo-born Mabvongwe has seven wins (four knockouts) and one defeat.
