Former national champion Khanyile ‘Man Dee’ Bulana is expected to return to his home in Scenery Park, East London, from Cape Town either on Thursday or Friday.
Bulana has been in the Mother City since his fourth round stoppage loss to SA junior-lightweight champion Lunga ‘Pressure Cooker’ Sitemela on Friday last week.
The 31-year-old former South African featherweight champion remained in Cape Town after a health scare on Saturday morning.
Initially, Bulana was due to leave the Mother City for East London last Saturday, but he didn’t travel because he needed urgent medical attention due to the health scare.
Only his trainer Kholisile ‘KC’ Cengani and assistant trainer Lowabo Witbooi ultimately returned to East London.
Bulana’s problems started when he together with his team got stuck at the King Phalo Airport in East London on Thursday after fight promoter Jackie Brice of Jackie Brice Boxing Promotions failed to secure tickets for them on time.
They were forced to return to their respective homes on Thursday afternoon and only flew to Cape Town on Friday afternoon and went straight to the fight venue after landing in the Mother City.
Meanwhile, Bulana’s stoppage loss to Sitemela was his successive knockout defeat. He was stopped in the first round by former International Boxing Organisation (IBO) junior-lightweight titlist Michael Magnesi in Italy in April last year.
