Ecuador fought very hard as they held the Netherlands 1-1 in a 2022 FIFA World Cup group stages clash at the Khalifa International Stadium in Doha, Qatar, on Friday evening.
OnsOranje took an early lead when Cody Gakpo curled the ball past Ecuador goalkeeper Hernan Galindez after he was set up by Davy Klaassen in the sixth minute.
LaTri equalised through their captain Enner Valencia in the 49th minute. This was Valencia’s third goal in this tournament’s opening matches and his sixth overall in the World Cup.
Netherlands are going to face hosts Qatar in their final group stages match while Ecuador have a date with Senegal on Tuesday next week. Both matches are going to start at 17h00.
