Losing to Lusanda ‘Mexican’ Komanisi is something that has not sat well with Tshifhiwa ‘Atomic Spider’ Munyai three months after the Mdantsane boxer dethroned him as a South African lightweight champion.

Former SA and International Boxing Organisation (IBO) featherweight titlist Komanisi defeated Munyai when they fought at the Emperors Palace in Kempton Park mid-September.

“I’m thinking of fighting at both lightweight and junior-welterweight. I’m strong enough to fight in both divisions,” the erstwhile IBO junior-featherweight champion said.

Though he would like to campaign in both divisions, the 37-year-old Munyai said that he will stick around in the lightweight division only if he’s guaranteed a crack at Komanisi’s national title.

“To be honest, the only fight that will make sense to me in the lightweight is if I get a rematch against Lusanda because he can give me a real challenge. Other than that, there are no big fights for me in that division,” he said.
Meanwhile, Munyai has bounced back from the Komanisi loss as he topped Crispin Moliati from Lilongwe, Malawi, at the Ngoako Ramatlhodi Sports Complex in Seshego, Polokwane, earlier this month.

This was the Makwarela-born Munyai’s second win over the Malawian as he defeated him for the first time in December 2018.
