Following the chaotic last few days where the J4Joy Boxing Promotions tournament was even in doubt, Charrit Mukondeleli, a boxing trainer from Soweto in Johannesburg, is quite happy that his boxer Prince Dlomo will finally defend his title.
Dlomo is set to defend his South African junior-welterweight title when he faces Marcus Lebogo at the Olive Convention Centre in Durban on Thursday.
“We are very happy that finally the fight is taking place. I’m also happy that Prince has always been on weight. He has been waiting for this fight to happen,” Mukondeleli said.
Pietermaritzburg-born Dlomo has defended his title three times since he dethroned Xolani Mcotheli in March last year. He successfully defended his title against Siseko Makeleni, Mcotheli and Xolani Mgidi.
Meanwhile, former SA featherweight champion Azinga ‘Golden Boy’ Fuzile from Duncan Village in East London will clash with Rene Tellez Giron from Mexico in the main bout.
The 26-year-old Fuzile and the Mexican are going to fight for the vacant International Boxing Organisation (IBO) Intercontinental lightweight title.
