Lamontville Golden Arrows defeated SuperSport United 2-1 in a DStv Premiership match at the Princess Magogo Stadium in KwaMashu, Durban, on Saturday afternoon.
Abafana Bes’thende captain Nduduzo Sibiya opened the scoring in the 18th minute from a rebound after his penalty was saved by Matsatsantsa a Pitori goalkeeper Ricardo Goss.
Match referee Tshidiso Maruping awarded Abafana Bes’thende the penalty after Matsatsantsa defender Siyabonga Nhlapo had handled inside the box.
Four minutes before half-time, Zimbabwean-born striker Knox Mutizwa doubled Abafana Bes’thende’s lead when he beat Goss.
Matsatsantsa tried their best as they continued to attack and their efforts were rewarded when Thabang Sibanyoni headed in Grant Margeman’s cross in the 85th minute.
Meanwhile, Maritzburg United coach Fadlu Davids won his first match since he returned to the Team of Choice as he led the KwaZulu-Natal Midlands side to a 1-0 win over Marumo Gallants through a Tshepo Gumede own goal at the Royal Bafokeng Sports Palace in Phokeng, Rustenburg.
