Chippa United coach Morgan Mammila has called for the South African Football Association (SAFA) to copy the system used by DStv Premiership champions Mamelodi Sundowns for the benefit of Bafana Bafana.
Mammila was speaking after the Brazilians defeated the Chilli Boys 2-1 in a DStv Premiership encounter at Loftus Versfeld in Pretoria on Tuesday evening.
“If we take the kind of system Sundowns play to Bafana Bafana, are we not bringing back the Bafana Bafana that we all love? When Sundowns play, all you (media) come here, but let other teams play, you are not gonna come. Because why? You are not seeing what you wanna see,” Mammila said.
“Now the SAFA president must go and ask Doctor Patrice Motsepe how did you get the Sundowns where it is now? Very simple. We know the person who started system at Sundowns. Dr Patrice Motsepe is the man who likes this country. Don’t you think that man will be proud if South Africa can be in a World Cup top four?”
Bafana have not played in the FIFA World Cup finals since they hosted the tournament in 2010. And they have failed to qualify for the Africa Cup of Nations a number of times.
