Following back-to-back losses to Mamelodi Sundowns and Swallows FC, Chippa United striker Ronaldo Maarman wants the Chilli Boys to arrest the slide and start winning.

And Maarman feels there’s no better time to begin collecting maximum points than when they host Cape Town City in a DStv Premiership match at the Nelson Mandela Bay Stadium on Gqeberha on Saturday (17h30).

“The mood is down. We know what we can do as a team, but the result is not in our favour. We still have the belief that if we can win four games we can do it again,” Maarman said.

The Chilli Boys had a storming second half when they lost 2-1 to log-leaders Sundowns at Loftus Versfeld Stadium in Pretoria on Tuesday evening.

“We had no fear in the second half. They are a big team, they are log-leaders. We played very well in the second half. We were more offensive,” Maarman said.

On the Citizens match, the former Cape Town All Stars forward said: “We have to score goals because goals win matches. A win will set us up.”

The Gqeberha-based Chilli Boys are ninth on the Premiership standings with 19 points after winning five matches, drawing four and losing seven times while the Citizens are two places above them with 19 points from five victories, four stalemates and six defeats.
