Some football fans were already filing out of Princess Magogo Stadium in KwaMashu thinking Lamontville Golden Arrows and Maritzburg United were going to play a goalless draw.
However, Bolivian Ali Meza had other ideas as he netted in referee’s added time to give the Team of Choice a 1-0 win over Abafana Bes’thende. The Team of Choice have now registered three back-to-back wins for the first time since March 2020.
After absorbing pressure from their provincial neighbours, the Team of Choice caught their opponents on the counter with Meza dashing from his own half to beat Arrows goalkeeper Sifiso Mlungwana.
Meanwhile, Chippa United fought hard to hold Royal AM to a 1-1 draw at the Chatsworth Stadium in Durban. Motebang Sera gave Thwihli Thwahla the lead in the sixth minute and the Chilli Boys equalised through Etiosa Ighodaro eight minutes before full-time.
