Orlando Pirates cruised to a 4-1 win over struggling Stellenbosch FC in a DStv Premiership match at the Orlando Stadium in Soweto on Sunday afternoon.
Thabang Monare opened the scoring for Pirates with a header in the eighth minute after Monnapule Saleng had floated the ball into the box.
Buccaneers captain Innocent Maela doubled Pirates’ lead following Stellies goalkeeper Sage Stephens’ mistake in the 22nd minute.
It then became a matter of time before Pirates added a third one as Kermit Erasmus, who had missed a chance earlier, found the back of the net in the 59th minute. Four minutes later, Ndabayithethwa Ndlondlo sent a long range shot which beat Stephens to make it 4-0.
And Mervin Boji, who came on as a second half substitute, scored the Cape Winelands side’s consolation goal in the 75th minute.
