The late former Bafana Bafana midfielder and Orlando Pirates captain John ‘Dungi’ Moeti is going to be laid to rest in Fourways on Saturday following a service at the Rhema Bible Church in Randburg.
Moeti, who played 29 times for Bafana Bafana, passed away at his Johannesburg home on Monday morning after he had been ill for eight months. He was 55.
Soweto-born Moeti was part of the Buccaneers’ squad, which won the 1995 CAF Champions League trophy. He was also a member of the Bafana squad, which won the 1996 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) tournament on home soil.
Moeti, who joined Pirates from Dynamos, left the Buccaneers after four years and joined SuperSport United in 1999. He spent two years at Matsatsantsa a Pitori.
