For Siyakholwa Kuse reclaiming the South African minimumweight title would be an achievement in his quest to make a statement in boxing.

Kuse gets an opportunity to reclaim the title as he challenges his conqueror and current national champion Bangile Nyangani in Durban on Thursday, 30 March.

Nyangani from Mthatha dethroned Kuse via a majority decision in East London in July 2021. Now Kuse wants to avenge that defeat and reclaim his place in South Africa’s fistic sport.

“Bangile talks too much. He jokes a lot. He’s got nothing and we know him. I gave him the belt to keep it for me and now I want my belt back,” Kuse from Mdantsane said.

Kuse, who turns 24 in June, is working very hard preparing for this fight under the guidance of former SA flyweight champion Makazole Tete at All Winners Boxing Club in Mdantsane.

Meanwhile, Nyangani has already made two successful defences of the national title against Gaveni Nkwenteni and Loyiso Ngantweni.

Kuse outpointed Malawian George Kandulo in his last fight, which was held at the Portuguese Hall in Turffontein, Johannesburg, in September. On the other hand, Nyangani defeated Nkwenteni in his second title defence on September last year.
