Cape Town City made things more difficult for Swallows FC as they beat them 2-0 in a DStv Premiership encounter at the Cape Town Stadium on Sunday evening.
Taahir Goedeman opened the scoring for the Citizens with a volley which beat Swallows goalkeeper Thakasani Mbanjwa in the eighth minute following a pass from Jaeden Rhodes.
The Citizens doubled their lead when Taariq Fielies beat Mbanjwa with a beautiful strike from outside the box in the 55th minute.
The Dube Birds were reduced to 10 men on the hour mark after match referee Cedric Muvhali red carded Keagan Allan when he denied Khanyisa Mayo an obvious goal scoring opportunity.
Muvhali red carded Citizens captain Thamsanqa Mkhize and Swallows’ Bongani Sam, who was a second half substitute, in referee’s added time.
