National female champion Thema Zuma will collide with Bathabile Ziqubu less than a year since the two lasses fought against each other.
Zuma, a South African female junior-bantamweight champion, is scheduled to defend her title against Ziqubu in a rematch of last year’s fight as they meet at the Cecil Emmett Hall in Vryheid this coming Sunday.
Originally from Port Shepstone, Zuma won the SA title after she outpointed Ziqubu at the Greyville Convention Centre in Durban in June last year.
Zuma lost to former SA female bantamweight champion Melissa Miller in a non-title bout at Durban’s Olive Convention Centre in August last year. Ziqubu, meanwhile, has not fought since losing to Zuma.
This coming Sunday’s clash was supposed to have taken place at the same Vryheid venue last December, but it was postponed just four days before its actual date.
