The West Indies staged a massive fight back on day two of the second Test against the Proteas as the South Africans were 49 for four after 8.1 overs in their second innings in Centurion on Wednesday.
Aiden Markram, who top scored with 115 from 174 balls in the first innings, was on 35 from 33 deliveries as the Proteas had lost Dean Elgar, Tony de Zorzi, captain Temba Bavuma and Keegan Petersen.
Alzarri Joseph took Elgar and Bavuma’s wickets while De Zorzi became Kemar Rocach’s victim and Petersen was trapped leg before wicket by Jason Holder, who took his 150th Test wicket.
Meanwhile, fast bowler Anrich Nortje picked up his fourth Test fiver as the Proteas restricted the West Indians to 212 all out in 69 overs in in their first innings.
The Proteas had scored 342 all out in 86.3 overs in their first innings with West Indian bowler Joseph recording his maiden Test five wickets after giving away 81 runs.
