Mamelodi Sundowns eased past Royal AM with a 5-1 win in a DStv Premiership encounter at Loftus Versfeld Stadium in Pretoria on Tuesday evening.
The defending DStv Premiership champions took the lead when in-form Cassius Mailula scored his ninth goal of the season in the 21st minute.
Six minutes later, Thwihli Thwahla goalkeeper Zakahle Ngcobo failed to stop Ricardo Nascimento’s back pass which made it 2-0 for the Tshwane giants.
The Brazilians’ top marksman Peter Shalulile scored his team’s third goal three minutes before the half-time break for his 10th goal of the season. Shalulile made it 4-0 in the 52nd minute.
Thwihli Thwahla pulled one back through Lantshane Phalane’s powerful shot,which beat Sundowns goalkeeper Ronwen Williams from outside the box in the 69th minute.
The ruthless Tshwane giants added a fifth goal when Mothobi Mvala scored in the 73rd minute.
Meanwhile, Marumo Gallants held Cape Town City to a 2-2 draw at the Cape Town Stadium. Citizens’ Khanyisa Mayo netted a brace with Lesiba Nku and Ranga Chivaviro scoring for Gallants.
