The South African Under-17 national team are out of the Africa Cup of Nations after they were drubbed 5-0 by Senegal at the Nelson Mandela Stadium in Algiers, Algeria, on Wednesday evening.
A horror show started when Amajimbos conceded two own goals in a space of three minutes. The Senegalese took the lead through Waylon Renecke’s own goal in the 36th minute.
Three minutes later, Benjamin Wallis netted another own goal to give the Senegalese a 2-0 lead. Mamadou Sadio made it 3-0 a minute before the half-time break.
Senegal captain Amara Diouf added the fourth goal nine minutes into the second half. Diouf completed his brace in the 72nd minute to take his team to the semi-finals of the tournament.
