Cape Town City striker Khanyisa Mayo scored twice in the second half to give the Citizens a 2-0 win over Richards Bay FC in a DStv Premiership clash at the Athlone Stadium in Cape Town on Saturday afternoon.
The Capetonians took the lead after Taariq Fielies headed the ball to Mayo who finished from close range. The Citizens doubled their lead when Mthatha-born Mayo scored his 12th goal of the season in the 81st minute.
Meanwhile, Amadou Soukouna gave Maritzburg United a lifeline as they beat Stellenbosch FC 1-0 at the Harry Gwala Stadium.
Soukouna scored after he received a Rowan Human flicked ball, which came from Karim Kimvuidi’s long ball in the 40th minute.
