Umsinga United became the first team to reach the semi-finals of the ABC Motsepe League national play-offs being played in Pietermaritzburg.
The KwaZulu-Natal champions thrashed Buffalo FC 7-1 at the Harry Gwala Stadium on Wednesday afternoon. Thobani Mthembu netted the play-offs’ first hattrick with the other goals coming from Thulani Mpanza, Thamsanqa Masondo, Menzi Madela and Sithole while David Ramoji scored Buffalo’s consolation goal.
Meanwhile, Umsinga United beat Nedbank Cup quarter-finalists Dondol Stars 2-1 in their opening match of the play-offs on Tuesday.
