Egyptian giants Al Ahly won the CAF Champions League trophy for an incredible 11th time after they defeated Wydad Athletic Club from Morocco 3-2 on aggregate on Sunday evening.
After taking a 2-1 lead from last weekend’s first leg, the Red Devils drew 1-1 with the Moroccans in an ill-tempered match at the Mohammed V Stadium in Casablanca, Morocco, on Sunday evening.
Wydad had an advantage courtesy of a away goal rule when Yahia Attiyat Allah beat Al Ahly goalkeeper and captain Mohamed El Shenawy to give them the lead in the 27th minute.
After trying to level matters numerous times, the Red Devils finally equalised with Mohamed Abdelmoneim’s flicked headed goal from Ali Maaloul’s corner in the 78th minute.
