St Louis City SC midfielder Njabulo Blom is going to be the last player to report at the Bafana Bafana camp ahead of Saturday’s Africa Cup of Nations qualifier against Morocco at the FNB Stadium in Nasrec, Johannesburg.
Blom will report late because he featured for his team when they played against LA Galaxy in a Major League Soccer (MLS) match on Sunday. The late arrival of the 23-year-old former Kaizer Chiefs midfielder was confirmed by Bafana coach Hugo Broos in Pretoria on Monday.
“Four players not in camp. Percy (Tau) won the Champions League yesterday (Sunday). So it was never to possible for him to be here today (Monday). Luke le Roux, his flight was delayed yesterday (Sunday). Two Americans (Bongokuhle) Hlongwane and Blom, one will be here tomorrow (Tuesday) morning. Blom will only arrive tomorrow (Tuesday) night,” Broos said.
Saturday’s match is a dead rubber as both Bafana and the 2022 FIFA World Cup semi-finalists have already qualified for the AFCON tournament, which is going to be held in Ivory Coast between January and February next year.
