Siyakholwa Kuse has insisted that the South African minimumweight title belongs to him even though he has to go through Bangile Nyangani before making such a proclamation.
An opportunity to reclaim the title has presented itself to Kuse from Mdantsane as he challenges Nyangani at the East London International Convention Centre (ICC) on Sunday, 2 July.
This is more like a grudge fight as Nyangani from Mthatha dethroned Kuse in front of his fans at the Nutting Hall in East London in July 2021. Nyangani has since defended the title twice against Loyiso Ngantweni and Gaveni Nkwenteni.
“I have worked hard enough here in camp as we started training early in January. We know Nyangani very well. There’s a lot that I have done to rectify the mistakes, which resulted in me losing to him. People are going to see for themselves during their fight. I’m ready for Nyangani. It’s my belt and I’m going to get it back,” Kuse said.
The 24-year-old Kuse, who is trained by former SA flyweight champion Makazole Tete, has fought once – defeating Malawian boxer George Kandulo in Johannesburg last September – since losing to Nyangani.
Meanwhile, Kuse’s fight against Nyangani is in the undercard of reigning International Boxing Federation (IBF) junior-flyweight champion Sivenathi ‘Special One’ Nontshinga’s title defence against Regie Suganob from the Philippines.
