Celebrated South African football coach Pitso Mosimane on Thursday confirmed that he had left Saudi Arabian club Al Ahli Saudi after just eight months at the helm.
The former Al Ahly and Mamelodi Sundowns mentor left the club after helping them gain promotion back to the Saudi Pro League as they finished number one on the log.
“As we end our relationship with Al Ahli FC Saudi and look forward to new opportunities, I would like to express my utmost satisfaction for having achieved the difficult task of promoting the team back to the Saudi Pro League,” Mosimane said in a statement on Thursday.
Mosimane, who once coached the South African senior men’s team Bafana Bafana, thanked everyone who worked with him towards achieving what he was employed to do. He won 18 matches, drew seven and lost three since joining the club.
“We would never have achieved this feat without the players, who continuously played their hearts out, the technical team and the staff that supported me and the players throughout. And finally, thank you to the undying support from the Al Ahli supporters, your presence on the stands at home and away games was the best motivation,” Mosimane concluded.
