Durban-based Premier Division side AmaZulu announced the appointment of Pablo Franco Martín from Spain as their new coach on Tuesday evening.
Usuthu president Sandile Zungu announced that the Spaniard whom he gave the nickname Cijimpi (The Warrior) signed a three-year contract with the Durban side.
“We are absolutely delighted at the quality of parties that we interviewed who shared with us their ideas about Usuthu. Usuthu is loved and seen as a very attractive prospect. We emerged with one name. A name that the players will be very happy with, the supporters, sponsors and the directors of AmaZulu Football Club. We believe that the local league will be richer with a person of this gentleman’s calibre coming to the DStv Premiership,” Zungu said.
The 43-year-old Franco Martín has worked at Tanzanian side Simba SC, Quadsia SC in Kuwait, Getafe and Real Madrid in Spain.
Meanwhile, Zungu revealed that they interviewed candidates including local coaches, coaches who coached in the DStv Premiership, African continent, Europe, Asia, the Middle East and South America.
