Lanky German-born defender Lasse Sobiech has retired from football after only a season with Cape Winelands side Stellenbosc FC.
The former Borussia Dortmund defender was forced to quit the beautiful game after struggling with injuries, which resulted in him playing only seven times for Stellies.
The 32-year-old has played forvFC St Pauli, Greuther Furth, Hamburger SV, FC Koln and Damstadt in Germany while he turned out for Mouscron in Belgium and FC Zurich in Switzerland.
