The Cheetahs won the Currie Cup trophy for the first time since 2019 on Saturday evening after they defeated the Pumas 25-17 in the final held at the Free State Stadium in Bloemfontein.
The Cheetahs, who have now won the Currie Cup trophy seven times, crossed the try line three times with Reinhardt Fortuin, Cohen Jasper and Rewan Kruger scoring the fivers while Ali Mgijima scored the Pumas’ only try.
Ruan Pienaar succeeded with two conversions and two penalties and Pumas flyhalf Tinus de Beer converted four penalties.
