South African boxing is under a dark cloud following the sad passing away of TZ Promotions boss Tando Zonke early on Tuesday morning.
Zonke, who swore by the canary yellow colours of DStv Premiership champions Mamelodi Sundowns, died with his boxing gloves on as he was the chairperson of the Eastern Cape Boxing Promoters Association (ECBPA).
Ink Sport has been informed that Zonke, who had his last boxing tournament at the Thobi Kula Indoor Sport Centre in Komani in February this year, succumbed to death following heart and diabetes complications.
Zonke will be remembered for advocating for fairness and equal treatment of all boxing promoters in South Africa as he wanted the regulations to be followed to the letter.
