After landing in East London on a wet Monday evening, Filipino boxing promoter Floriezly Podot is praying for better weather conditions as his boxer Regie ‘Filipino Phenom’ Suganob is finalising his preparations for his fight against Sivenathi ‘Special One’ Nontshinga.

Suganob challenges reigning International Boxing Federation (IBF) junior-flyweight champion Nontshinga at the East London International Convention Centre (ICC) this coming Sunday.

“The team is excited. Regie is ready and happy to arrive here. He’s hoping everything will be smooth during his stay and on fight day. If it’s going to still rain, the team will have to use indoor facilities of the hotel. But we are still expecting the weather to be good,” Podot, who heads PMI Bohol Boxing Promotions, said.

The 25-year-old Suganob from Bohol in the Philippines arrived in East London together with head coach Edsel Burlas, head trainer Niñolito Jalnaiz, assistant trainer Edito Villamor and Podot.

This is a very important fight for both boxers as Nontshinga will be out to make sure that he successfully defends the title he captured when he defeated Mexican Hector Flores in Hermosillo, Mexico, in September last year while Suganob wants to upset the East London boxer in front of his home fans.
