It will be more like it’s in and out for Sabelo Ngebiyana as he will arrive in Mexico three days before his very important fight against unbeaten Mexican boxer Alan David Picasso Romero in Mexico City next week.
The former South African junior-bantamweight champion faces off with Romero in a World Boxing Council (WBC) junior-featherweight elimination bout in Mexico City on Saturday, 15 July.
Interestingly, the Komani-born lad still does not have a trainer and a manager even though he continues to get big opportunities in the fistic sport.
“I’m leaving for Mexico on Tuesday the 11th of July. I have asked Saligh Dollie from Cape Town to be in my corner during the fight. You know I train myself. Saligh will go to the corner, assist me with water and some few instructions here and there,” Ngebiyana, who is rated 31 by the WBC, remarked.
The 30-year-old Ngebiyana goes to the fight having registered 15 wins (11 stoppages), six defeats and a draw. His last fight was a win over Tanzanian Tony Rashid in Tanzania this year.
With his upcoming fight set to be held in Mexico City, it’s just like Ngebiyana is going straight into the lion’s den as that is the 22-year-old Romero’s backyard.
Romero, who is rated number three by the WBC, has registered seven stoppages in his last 10 fights. Overall, he has stopped 13 of his 24 victims with his other fight ending in a draw.
