An urgent board meeting of Boxing South Africa (BSA) has been called for Thursday in the aftermath of the embarrassing situation regarding the annulled initial outcome of the fight between Melissa Miller and Sharadene Fortuin.
Miller was announced as the winner after the South African female bantamweight title fight against Fortuin on Sunday, only for the verdict of the duel to be changed to a draw three days later.
The decision to change the outcome of the fight came after it was discovered that BSA provincial manager in the Eastern Cape Phakamile Jacobs had erred while tallying the score cards.
This was the second time that Jacobs messed up with an outcome of a fight. He declared Phumelela Cafu as the winner when he challenged current SA flyweight champion Jackson Chauke in March last year.
This was so despite two score cards clearly showing that the fight was a draw and the other score card had Cafu winning the bout.
