Following a goalless first half, Chipolopolo of Zambia managed to score twice in the last 45 minutes to defeat Comoros 2-1 in a 2023 COSAFA Cup Group B match at the King Zwelithini Stadium in Umlazi, Durban, on Sunday afternoon.

Chipolopolo took the lead when Fredrick Mulambia’s shot from outside the box hit the upright before the ball kissed the back of the net six minutes into the second half.

A mix-up in the Chipolopolo defence resulted in Comoros equalising through Affane Djambae in the 67th minute. That was Djambae’s second goal in two matches.

Seven minutes later, Albert Kangwanda restored Chipolopolo’s lead when he tapped in from Golden Mashata’s pass.

Disaster struck when the Islanders were reduced to 10 men after Youssaf Bakri was red carded for a second bookable offence in the 77th minute.
