Malawi’s Flames have reached the semi-finals of the COSAFA Cup tournament following a 2-0 win over Seychelles at the King Zwelithini Stadium in Umlazi, Durban, on Sunday evening.
After a goalless first stanza, the Flames came back stronger in the second half and their efforts were rewarded when Lanjesi Nkhoma netted in the 55th minute.
Jacama Kumwembe made it 2-0 in the 65th minute to knock Seychelles out of the tournament. Seychelles were beaten 3-0 by Comoros in their opening match on Thursday.
The Flames have now won their opening two matches having beaten Zambia’s Chipolopolo 1-0 on Thursday.
