Banyana Banyana scored a goal in each half as they defeated Costa Rica 2-0 in an international friendly match at the Nga Puna Wai Sport Complex in Christchurch, New Zealand, on Saturday morning (South African time).
Racing Louisville striker Thembi Kgatlana opened the scoring in the 32nd minute following an assist from Kholosa Biyana.
Hilda Magaia, who plays for Sejong Sportstoto in Korea Republic, increased Banyana’s lead when her free kick sailed into the back of the net in the 55th minute.
This match was part of Banyana’s preparations for the FIFA Women’s World Cup, which starts on Thursday. The World Cup is going to be co-hosted by Australia and New Zealand.
