Back in South Africa after spending more than a month at a Belfast hospital, Ludumo Lamati is understandable happy to breath South African air once again.
The 31-year-old former International Boxing Organisation (IBO) and South African junior-featherweight champion landed in South Africa from Belfast, Northern Ireland, on Thursday.
Lamati was rushed to hospital after he collapsed in his corner following a 12th round stoppage loss to Englishman Nick Ball during a World Boxing Council (WBC) Silver featherweight title fight at the SSE Arena in Belfast, Northern Ireland, in May.
“I arrived in South Africa today (Thursday). It feels really good to be back home. I’m fine and well. The doctors have given me an all clear,” Lamati said.
Lamati, who lost for the first time when he was defeated by Ball, has won 21 fights with 11 of those victories coming from stoppages and a draw.
