Chippa United’s new sponsorship deal from the Nelson Mandela Bay Metropolitan Municipality has been approved pending ratification by the mayoral committee.
This was confirmed by Mcebisi ‘Bassie’ Kamana, a member of the Bay Metro mayoral committee for sport, recreation, arts and culture.
“The Chippa United deal has been approved by the standing committee. The only thing pending now is the sitting of the mayoral committee to ratify it. The mayoral committee was due to sit on Wednesday, but the meeting has since been postponed to a later date,” Kamana said.
The Gqeberha-based Chilli Boys are going to be funded to the tune of R13,5 million per annum in the next three years.
Previously, the Chilli Boys and the Bay Metro signed a three-year contract in 2020 where the club received a R6 million sponsorship per annum. The Chilli Boys also received additional R7 million anchor tenant fees as well as R500 000 a year for marketing.
