The Nigerian Super Falcons came from behind to defeat co-hosts Australia 3-2 in a 2023 FIFA Women’s World Cup Group B match at the Brisbane Stadium on Thursday.
Uchenna Kanu, Osinachi Ohale and Asisat Oshola netted for the Super Falcons while the Matildas’ goals came from Emily van Egmond and Alanna Kennedy.
The Nigerians top Group B with four points from a win and a draw in their tournament opener. And they are level on points with Canada.
The Super Falcons’ last group stages match is against whipping boys Republic of Ireland while Australia face the Canadians.
