Fighting in front of his home crowd is a dream come true for Pietermaritzburg-born South African junior-welterweight champion Prince Dlomo, who faces challenger Marcus Lebogo on Friday.

Dlomo will be looking at making sure that he successfully defends his crown when he clashes against Lebogo at the Pietermaritzburg City Hall.

“The fight is on and there are no doubts anymore. This is great. I’m very happy that I will be fighting for the first time in Pietermaritzburg in front of my people. They are going to see that I’m determined to win,” Dlomo, who will be 34 years old on Saturday, said.

Dlomo will be making the fourth defence of the SA title he won when he dethroned former champion Xolani Mcotheli in March 2021. Already, Dlomo has successfully defended his crown against Siseko Makeleni, Mcotheli and Xolani Mgidi.

Meanwhile, Dlomo’s fight against Lebogo was supposed to have taken place in Durban last December, but the J4Joy Boxing Promotions tournament was cancelled at the eleventh hour.

The fight was then billed to be promoted by Xaba Promotions in February this year in Durban, but it never took place.
