It was a merciless performance as the Netherlands hammered a woeful Vietnam 7-0 in a 2023 FIFA Women’s World Cup Group E match at the Dunedin Stadium on Tuesday.
The Dutch led 5-0 at half-time through goals by Lieke Martens, Katja Snoeijs, Esmee Brugts, Jill Roord and Danielle van de Donk. Brugts and Roord added two more goals in the second half.
Meanwhile, defending champions United States played to a goalless draw with Portugal in another Group E encounter at Eden Park.
