Spain became the first team to reach the quarter-finals of the 2023 FIFA Women’s World Cup following a comprehensive 5-1 win over Switzerland at Eden Park in Auckland, New Zealand, on Saturday.
Aitana Bonmati netted a brace with Alba Redondo, Lala Codina and Jennifer Hermoso scoring the other goals while Codina scored an own goal for Switzerland.
The Spaniards are going to play in the last eight against the winner of Sunday’s last-16 clash between the Netherlands and Banyana Banyana. The Dutch and Banyana meet at the Sydney Football Stadium at 4am (South African time).
