South African champion Matshidiso Mokatsane from Kroonstad in the Free State overcame Zimbabwean boxer Cicilia Pitisani on Saturday evening.

The reigning South African female junior-featherweight champion, who returned to action after almost a year, stopped Pitisani in an international bout at the Thabo Vuyo High School in Rouxville, Xhariep District, southern Free State.

This was Mokatsane’s first fight since she drew with Monalisa Takane during an SA title contest at the Feathermarket Theatre in Gqeberha, Eastern Cape, in October.

Meanwhile, Giresse Wingui from the Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC) stopped Jackson Kaptein in the seventh round.

This was Kaptein’s second successive loss as he was also stopped by current SA junior-middleweight champion Shervantaigh Koopman in March this year.
