It’s going to be a busy week for the disciplinary committee of Boxing South Africa (BSA) as at least three confirmed cases are scheduled for a sitting at the regulator body’s offices in Hatfield, Pretoria, this week.

First to be hauled over the coals is Soweto-based boxing trainer Charrit Mukondeleli, who has been charged with gross misconduct and bringing the sport of boxing into disrepute following an alleged Facebook post.

Mukondeleli, who was one of the nominees for the Manager of the Year award at the South African Boxing Awards, has, however, maintained that he did nothing wrong.

A day later, Cape Town-based ring announcer Devon Currer is due to appear before the BSA DC on a number of charges.

But it looks like Currer won’t make it to the DC hearing after BSA failed to respond to his lawyers’ letter, which was sent more than a week ago. Currer’s lawyers wrote to BSA giving the regulatory body three days to give them clarity on the charges against their client. Unfortunately, BSA never responded to the letter.

And this week’s DC hearings will conclude with Unleashed Combat Sport boss Shereen Hunter’s appearance on Friday.

Mukondeleli, Currer and Hunter were all charged in the aftermath of the controversial SA Boxing Awards held in Durban in June.
